SOP 206.06  INCIDENT CRITIQUE SECTOR

The post-incident critique affords an opportunity to review the effectiveness of actions and procedures in their actual application to real incidents.   This is extremely valuable in the continuing review and development process through which improved methods and systems are established.   It allows a focus on lessons learned in each significant incident and a review of action taken.

The supervisor of training and/or his designated representative will respond to all “major alarms”, and unless otherwise assigned by command, automatically establish a Critique Sector.   The sector officer will report in person to the Command Post to verify his presence and the establishment of the sector.   Command may request the response of the critique sector personnel at other situations that have significant characteristics that should be subject to a critique.

The term, Critique Team, refers to all personnel assigned by the Training Officer to the Critique Sector at a Fire or EMS incident, or to follow-up activities prior to the critique.   The Critique Team will usually consist of Training Instructors.

The Critique Sector Officer is responsible for coordinating the response of the other members of the Critique Team to fulfill the information-gathering requirements of each particular incident.
